Best diner in LA. I am in love with everything here. The staff, the lights, menu, counter, I could go on. So happy Clark street took over this iconic spot. The chocolate chip pancakes and hash browns are out of this world. I love you. Never change :)
The first time I was in Los Angeles, was 2007. I didn't know what to expect, and I got a really good tour by a close friend. Fast forward to today, and I'm back in LA for a conference. Breakfast is a meal I look forward to having whenever I can get it, and I had a craving for my all-time favorite: French Toast. After doing some extensive searching I came across The Clark Street Diner. Someone had taken a photo of their French Toast and it looked like the traditional dish from my childhood. I decided to see for myself. I got there, was greeted and seated at in under 10 minutes. But just to give you a heads up, this place is BUSY. The waitstaff were speedy, efficient and accurate. I overheard others making their orders, and they were fulfilled in the customers's requested manner. Then my order landed in front of me. The photo wasn't an exaggeration or zoomed in. The Challah bread French Toast was thick, spiced with cinnamon, and with thick bacon (3), and sage breakfast sausage patties (2). Exquisite! The decor would remind you of the diner from Pulp Fiction - that 60's family diner style. The next time you find yourself in LA in Hollywood, do yourself a favor and go get breakfast here. It's right across the street from The Hollywood Tower. Enjoy! 5/5 Stars.
Yummy Asian chicken salad, kid's menu, omelets, fruit bowl. Only street parking which was challenging to find. We ended up walking from our nearby hotel. Many movies were filmed here. Waitress was friendly.
Breakfast and brunch classics executed to perfection. The challah bread French toast was the best we've tried anywhere. The eggs Florentine were delicious --the yolk was as right at the perfect ooze level with a very well balanced hollandaise full of flavor and not overly thick. The spinach was done to perfect texture and its flavor added a lot to the dish. Very friendly service, and nice, straightforward diner ambience enhanced by prints of classic diner scenes. The noise level is high due to loud conversations. There's always a line so make sure to get your name in the waitlist.
Came here in January 2024. This place was popping for brunch. I had the chilaquiles and blueberry chocolate chip pancakes to share with the table. Definitely recommend ordering some to share if you go with a group - these are oh so tasty! The pancakes are fluffy, sweet, and the chocolate chips weren't too much ( I thought it would be) The restaurant allowed a service dog as well! They also have baked goods for sale and swag! The chilaquiles were great, I eat slow so they got kinda soggy but otherwise great portion for the price. The restaurant itself is super kitschy old school diner themed and the music and wait staff are lively and friendly.
LA's iconic 101 Coffee Shop (and the Hollywood Hills Coffee Shop before that) is now Clark Street Diner. The space is an immaculate 1960's time capsule, which fortunately has been well preserved by its various owners. Many movies, TV shows, and music videos have been filmed here (Swingers, Entourage, a Megan Thee Stallion video, to name a few). The current owner is a famous baker, so expect top tier breads and pastries. Upon entry, I was dazzled by the bakery case, which displayed a beautiful selection of cookies, scones, croissants, and muffins. My husband and I stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning, and did not have to wait for a table. Our waitress was genuinely friendly. I'll be honest: we usually roll our eyes at "elevated" diner menus, and ultimately prefer a greasy spoon. But, our food here was delicious, and the high quality of the ingredients was evident. I loved the Challah French Toast, which had lovely eggy flavors, and a consistency reminiscent of bread pudding. My Cortado was one of the best I've ever had. Enjoying a proper espresso drink at a vintage diner was nothing short of dreamy. My husband's Eggs Benedict was an expertly executed 10/10. No notes. As someone who was a regular of 101 Coffee Shop, I can safely say that this diner's best era is now, with Clark Street Diner.
A really delicious, retro style diner in Hollywood. This used to be Café 101 but now it is Clark Street diner. They did a great job re-creating the type of diners you would see in the 60s and 70s inside. We sat at the counter and really appreciated being in a unique environment. LA is famous for its diners and this one is definitely on the must visit list. Our server was very fast and polite and checked in on us often. They don't have a parking lot, but street parking is easy to find in this area. We arrived at 10:30AM for a Saturday brunch and had to wait about 20 minutes. It was worth it. Every time I go to a diner, I have to get coffee but today I chose to do a cappuccino and it was great start. For my entree I ordered the Eggs Benedict and it was really good but the hashbrowns were really great. Some of the best hash browns that I've had in a long time. We also got a Tuna Melt with avocado for later in the day and it too really hit the spot. Overall, it was a great breakfast in a great diner. I would recommend and plan to be back in the future.
The revamped 101 Cafe is now the Clark Street Diner. They kept the same decor and left the historical elements of the building (Gotta love that old school diner vibe). Service was very friendly and helpful and while the food is typical of classic 'Greasy Spoon' fare, it is solid. Eggs & Sausage with Pancakes was nice, and the Sausage Patty had some Heat (very nice). The Eggs Benedict was also tasty. Portions are not huge, but there is enough food to leave satisfied. The Lunch menu seems loaded with good stuff, so next time in, we will try that. I'm glad this spot is open and busy. The food is reasonably priced and there are no 'hidden' fees added. This neighborhood needs the Clark Street Diner.
Food:good. I had pancakes and turkey bacon. Service:good. The staff is attentive and friendly. Ambience: buzzing. The 80s music just loud enough. Its popular, we only waited 15 min . Street parking only!
